One highway, two hundred and seventy-five kilometres

There's a purity to this run: your chauffeur joins the 401 at Chatham-Kent and doesn't leave it until the 427 ramp at the airport. The southwestern stretch past Tilbury and toward London is usually open road; the character changes after London as the corridor thickens through Woodstock and Cambridge, and the Milton section at peak decides whether the day lands at 2 h 40 or closer to 3 h 40. Measured free-flow, the drive is 156 minutes — and since the fare is flat, the difference between the two outcomes is measured only in podcast episodes.

Flights that leave before Chatham wakes up

From this distance, morning departures start in the middle of the night: an 8 a.m. international flight means leaving Chatham around 1:15 a.m. to be inside the terminal by 5. Those pickups are normal operations here — the service runs 24/7 — and the practical routine is to book the evening before (online at /ride/ needs three or more hours of lead time), set the door pickup, and sleep through the empty half of the 401. Evening departures reverse the comfort: a late-afternoon start, dinner-hour arrival, no alarm clock involved.

The train from Chatham, honestly

Chatham does have a VIA station on the Toronto–Windsor corridor, and for a downtown Toronto trip the train is a fair option. For Pearson it's incomplete: the train terminates at Union, not the airport, so you'd still be moving luggage onto a connection for the last leg — and matching sparse departure times against a fixed flight time from 275 km away leaves little room for anything to wobble. The car exists for exactly that gap: one seat from your door in Chatham to the departures curb, timed to your flight rather than a timetable.
