Sixty-two kilometres is a serious transfer, and the fare treats it honestly: $183.62 all-in for the sedan and $249.30 for the SUV, with base fare, gratuity, HST, the $15.27 airport pickup fee and the card fee all inside the number. It is fixed when you book — a stalled 401 at Scarborough adds nothing, because there is no meter.

401 end to end — or the 407 and the 412

The direct line is Highway 409 onto Highway 401 east, across North York and Scarborough, past the Rouge Valley and Ajax, then off at Brock Street — Highway 12, straight into downtown Whitby — or Thickson Road for the east side. Off-peak it is a 50-minute drive; the eastbound rush from mid-afternoon is what the top of the 50–75 minute range is for.

The 407-and-412 pairing changed this run when the 412 tolls came off: Highway 407 across the top, then the toll-free 412 south to the 401 at Whitby's western edge. And for Brooklin, stay on the 407 to the Baldwin Street exit and you arrive without touching the 401 at all. Any 407 toll rides inside the flat quote, never billed afterwards.
